Magyar Steel Magyar Steel (Mushroom Green Series 4101) By Csaba Becze Publisher: Mushroom Model Publications 2007 | 84 Pages | ISBN: 8389450291 | PDF | 59 MB
This book tells the story, for the first time in English, of Hungarian armour operations during World War II. Using both Hungarian-designed and -built armoured vehicles and German ones, the Hungarian forces fought bravely on the Eastern Front against overwhelming odds. Their German "allies" were not always supportive or friendly! This is the story of Magyar Steel - a rarely documented aspect of World War Two tank warfare. It is illustrated with rare wartime photographs, plus colour photographs of the few surviving Hungarian AFVs of the period, and computer generated artwork showing camouflage and markings. It is essential reading for military historians, tank and AFV enthusiasts and scale modellers.

Camouflage & Markings of the Sherman in New Zealand Service 1943-45 Camouflage & Markings of the Sherman in New Zealand Service 1943-45 (Armor Color Gallery #3) By Jeffrey Plowman Publisher: Model Centrum Progres 2008 | 64 Pages | ISBN: 8360672067 | PDF | 12 MB
The Sherman was the mainstay of the 4th New Zealand Armored Brigade, a unit that had been converted from an infantry brigade in 1942 to provide tank support for the 2nd New Zealand Division in the Middle East. As it so happened the Brigade never saw service in the desert campaign, a shortage of equipment and the need to train the unit with its new arm occupying it for the entire time the Division was away in Tripolitania and Tunisia.

Harley-Davidson Soldiers in Detail Harley-Davidson Soldiers in Detail (Special Museum Line No.33) By Frantisek Koran, Jan Mostek Publisher: Wings & Wheels Publications 2005 | 48 Pages | ISBN: 8086416437 | PDF | 44 MB
More than 90,000 Harley-Davidsons. Including more than 60.000 WLAs and nearly 20,000 WLCs, were produced during the war. and the spore parts concurrently produced by Harley-Davidson corresponded to more 30 000 motorcycles. It is estimated, according to the manufacturer's archives that some five hundred Harleys were sent to Europe. The motorcycles were put into service in the US Army as a liaison, convoy escort and police vehicles. The last time when the Harley-Davidson motorcycles were used also as reconnaissance were Cavalry manoeuvres in spring and summer of 1941. Most of the task having been dedicated to the motorcycles were subsequently taken over by another military vehicle with better crosscountry performance, higher stability and requiring much less training to operate, the Jeep When the war ended the only motorcycles retained in the service in the US Army were the WLAs.

The »Kraguj« is an all metal, single seat, light weight aircraft; developed for many military roles and capable to carry required ordnance to a target with minimum cost. The simplicity of design requires minimum of pilot training.
The operation in very close proximity to the front line is ensured since take-off and landing from small, unprepared grass airstrips is possible. Single aircraft or in squadron strength can be moved quickly to almost any locality near the front line. Armed with rockets, bombs, napalm, small bombs for troop targets and machine guns, this aircraft can be used against limited enemy troop actions, troop concentrations, supply trains, convoys of truck tanks, mobile artillery, small boats etc. The Kraguj may be also used for light transport roles both in army and civil services. Useful load of about 500 kg is available for such purposes.
The Kraguj has been under development for several years of extensive design, testing and production. The development of this aircraft was carried out in collaboration between the Yugoslav Aeronautical Research Establishments and the Yugoslav Aircraft Industry. The aircraft was built in accordance with the latest Military Airworthiness Requirements and Tactical and Operational Study. Many internationally known Yugoslav and foreign firms supplied high quality equipment for this aircraft.
Particular attention was paid to simplicity of design and technological processes in manufacture so that this aircraft can be manufactured in the countries with limited technological possibilities and smaller capacities of the aircraft industry.

Soko G-4 Super Galeb By SOKO Mostar Publisher: SOKO Mostar 1983 | 31 Pages | ISBN: N/A | PDF | 16 MB
The G-4 Super Galeb is a new-generation jet strike-trainer intended to replace the successful Soko Galeb/ Jastreb family in the conditions expected to prevail in military pilot training in the late eighties and the nineties. Through backed by extensive experience gained by its predecessor through seventeen years now in service with the Yugoslav Air Force and overseas, the Super Galeb is a completely new, modern design, connected only by name and tradition to the G-2A Galeb, rather than being a derivative of the latter in a technical sense.
Increasing cost and complexity of modern combat aircraft and, consequently, of corresponding operational conversion types, as well as fuel economy considerations, advocate the reduction of flying hours on operational conversion aircraft as far as possible. This has brought about a marked upward extension in the performance envelopes of modern training aircraft. The G-4 follows this trend, while avoiding over-sophistication and excessively demanding handling characteristics which would undercut its range of applicability at the low end of the scope of training missions. It thus represents a well-balanced compromise to economically and efficiently cover the widest range of pilot training requirements.
After highly successful flight-testing of the prototype, the Yugoslav Air Force has placed a substantial order for the new G-4 Super Galeb strike-trainer aircraft.

Grumman F-14A/B (Aerofax Minigraph 3) By Jay Miller Publisher: Midland 1984 | 40 Pages | ISBN: B0006YI5AW | PDF | 49 MB
Grumman Aerospace Corporation's F-1 4 Tomcat is the end product of a major disagreement that erupted in 1964 between the US Navy, then-Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, General Dynamics, Grumman, and the US Congress. This intense bickering was the result of a well-intentioned decision in 1 962 by McNamara to create a multi-service tactical combat aircraft that would use a basic airframe common to both the Navy and the Air Force.
At the time of the disagreement, the Department of Defense, then under McNamara's iron-fisted grip, had forced the Air Force and Navy to accept an innovative new program under the auspices of the Tactical Fighter Experimental (TFX) title. The extraordinarily versatile, but unquestionably over*burdened General Dynamics/Grumman F-1 1 1 A/B resulted from this marriage, with McNamara arguing that an AF/Navy fighter with high airframe commonality would save taxpayers many millions of dollars.
The F-1 11, because it was a technologically precedent-setting program of unparalleled proportions (it was, among many other things, the first operational aircraft to incorporate a variable-sweep wing, the world's first operational fighter to incorporate an afterburning turbofan engine, the world's first operational aircraft to incorporate an encapsulated ejection system, the world's first aircraft to incorporate a dedicated terrain following radar system, and the world's first .operational aircraft to be designed intentionally to fly at supersonic speeds at sea level altitudes), entered its preliminary flight test program with a number of serious failings.

The Ju 52/3M began life in 1930 when a new low winged single-engined passenger/cargo airplane bearing the Junkers trademark of external corrugated aluminum skinning was wheeled out of the factory hanger for taxying tests. Flying for the first time on October 13, 1930, powered by one 800 h.p. Junkers L.88 engine, the design was an immediate success. For nearly a year the single engined Ju 52 was built and tested with various powerplants and several were exported - one to Canada and one to Sweden.
With a pedigree that reached back to 1919 the Junker's Ju 52 was the end result of a progressive development of a line of all metal transport aircraft initiated by the Junkers Aircraft company in 1919. The "Tante Ju" (Auntie Ju) or "Iron Annie" as it was affectionately known by, has soldiered in the air for over forty years and still continues to fly today. Junker Ju 52/3m's have served with the air fleets of many nations in the past and at least four countries — Sweden, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland still operate them.
In 1931 Dipl. Ing. Zindel, Junker's chief designer, developed the three engined Ju 52/3m as a successor to the single engined Ju 52. The earliest known Ju 52/3m, Werke Nr. 4008, was delivered to Lloyd Aero Boliviano in 1932. Six additional aircraft were delivered to the Bolivian airline and during the Bolivian -Paraguayan dispute of 1932 - 35 they were used as military transports - the first known use of the Ju 52/3m in its destined role.
